Electives:

Studies in the Epistle to the Hebrews
The main themes of this book are the person of Christ, His sacrifice, His priesthood, and the superiority of each of these to that of Judaism. In addition to, and because of these, it presents the superior place to which the believer today has been brought. Important doctrinal themes are presented throughout the book but always with accompanying practical applications. We are living in the last days of the Church's history. There is much in Christianity today that imitates Judaism. It has produced a carnal religion without divine power and, sadly, has robbed the Lord Jesus of the esteem that is rightly His.  This book pictures for us a people who had grown weary in the Christian race. They were in danger of apostasy, i.e., turning from the reality back to the shadows of Judaism.  Our desire in this study is to draw our hearts back to contemplation of our blessed Lord and in so doing stimulate allegiance to and worship of Him who is worthy of all.
*This elective will be lead by Art Hart.*

Raising Real Men
This class will explore what it takes to raise a boy to manhood. Our starting text will be Raising Real Men by Hal and Melanie Young. We will investigate the ideas introduced in this book, compare them to what Scripture has to say on the topic, and formulate a practical guidebook on how we raise boys to be men in our world today. Topics will include: heroes, responsibility, violence, leadership, competition, stewardship, schooling, chivalry, manners, and more. This is not a class just for men - anyone who has influence in raising a boy to manhood is invited, as well as those who have already successfully raised boys, so they can lend their insight. Come join this discussion as we explore raising boys to be real Godly men.
*This elective will be lead by Dave Snyder.*

Logic 101 for Christians
The purpose of this class is to teach basic logic and reasoning skills. Prayerfully, the class will help provide the skills needed to identify an individual’s position, consider the validity of an argument, and come to logical conclusions regarding different points of view.  This is a necessity for all believers. If we are to understand and defend the faith, it is imperative to develop reasoning skills. Note: There will be homework each week. If you have any questions, please see Pastor Eric.
*This elective will be lead by Pastor Eric.*

Principles of Spiritual Growth
Using a book of the same name written by Miles J. Stafford (Publisher: Back to the Bible), this study will focus on the fundamentals of the Christian life and will help believers build their lives on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ. “Set forth in this book are basic principles pertaining to the Christian’s spiritual exercises. These principles are stated in such practical form that [the reader] will find it rewarding to read and reread them and put them into practice.” (quote from Theodore Epp, founder of Back to the Bible) This study is good for new believers and for persons (parents) who disciple others (children).
*This elective will be lead by Ron Risser.*

Lies Women Believe
We are like Eve.  We have all experienced defeats and failures, trouble and turmoil. We have all experienced a selfish heart, a shrewish spirit, anger, envy and bitterness. And we ache to do things over, to have lives of harmony and peace.  In her book, Lies Women Believe, author Nancy Leigh DeMoss exposes those areas of deception most commonly believed by Christian women: Lies about themselves: I should not have to live with unfulfilled longings. Lies about sin: I cannot walk in consistent victory over sin. Lies about their marriage: If I submit to my husband, I will be miserable. Lies about their emotions: I can’t control my emotions. Lies about their circumstances: I just can’t take any more. This study will shed light on how we can be delivered from bondage and set free to walk in God’s grace, forgiveness, and abundant life.

*This elective will be lead by Jen Poletti.*
